HarmonyOS will be the center of the future smartphone industry

Huawei’s Consumer Business CEO Richard Yu has already announced that Huawei will announce smartphone support for HarmonyOS 2.0 later this year and a new HarmonyOS-equipped smartphone in 2021.

On the sidelines of the Huawei Developer Conference (HDC) 2020, Wang Chenglu, President of the software division of the Huawei Consumer Business Group, revealed some more details about the future of HarmonyOS.

In addition to the smart TVs from Huawei, future products such as tablets and smartwatches will also be equipped with HarmonyOS. He pointed out that Huawei’s smartphone sales could decline significantly over the next year, but for now, sales are still robust and growing.

Regarding HarmonyOS, Wang said that smartphones are very important because they offer very powerful processing capabilities, convenience and irreplaceable advantages over other devices.

Among the devices equipped with the HarmonyOS ecosystem, many devices can function as cell phones, tablets, or even PCs through cross-device collaboration.

At HDC 2020, where Huawei introduced HarmonyOS 2.0, the company also announced expanded platform support and an SDK for developers to start developing an app on these new platforms.
