Astronomers discover two super-Earths orbiting a nearby dwarf

Gliese 887 is a red dwarf only 11 light years away. Göttingen astronomers have just discovered two planets orbiting around him, which are most likely in the super Earth category. The planets orbiting the stars closest to us are by their very nature the best laboratories for studying other planetary systems. It is on them that we can train new generation telescopes to study other planets, their atmospheres and, of course, in the search for life.
