The Regional Center for Blood Donation and Blood Treatment in Lublin gives an alarm that blood supplies are running out. This is a particularly dangerous situation during the holiday season, when many blood donors are on vacation and there are more road accidents – and therefore needs – there are more. The harvest season is also traditionally associated with an increase in the number of accidents in agriculture. Blood will also be needed to perform scheduled procedures that return to operating rooms after a lockdown break. The ongoing pandemic of coronavirus infections also discourages or prevents many blood donors from donating blood. People who have returned from abroad, have had contact with the infected or at least with people in quarantine, are also not allowed to donate blood for the next two weeks. What blood is needed most?
