Google and Qualcomm invest in HMD Global, “The Home of Nokia Phones”.

HMD Global announced that Qualcomm and Google have made major investments in the "home of Nokia phones". The total investment amounts to 230 million US dollars.

However, Google and Qualcomm aren’t the only two investors, but they are by far the largest. HMD Global has not disclosed other investors.

According to HMD Global, the new $ 230 million investment will accelerate 5G growth, accelerate the rollout of more 5G-enabled phones and help them reach more markets around the world. In addition, Google wants to catapult a new smartphone manufacturer into the top group of smartphone OEMs in view of the whole theater around the ban on Huawei by the US government.
