Xiaomi launches Jimny Suzuki toy car, is there a real car on the way?

Recently, in the Chinese media, after the publication of a post on the social network by Xiaomi that the company is finally starting to produce cars, there is a saltiness. This post was accompanied by a real car ghost. However, the company quickly stated that the Weibo post was a mistake on the part of the transferor and that there were no plans to enter the automotive industry.

Xiaomi then unveiled the SUZUKI Jimny SUV remote version. This product is a replica of the popular Jimny Suzuki Offroad car and is sold in China at a scale of 1:16 and a price of 199 yuan ($ 28).

Xiaomi may not have plans to produce a car right now, but that doesn’t mean the company hasn’t put it on its to-do list. In 2017, the Chinese company filed a lawsuit in India alleging that it might sell electric cars. However, an Xiaomi employee told the Financial Times that the company does not currently have any cars under construction.

Just last year, Xiaomi partnered with Chinese automaker FAW, which is known for building the iconic Red Flag sedans – representing senior communist officials. According to advertisements, the Xiaomi Bestune T77 SUV version allows its owners to remotely control Xiaomi’s smart products in their car via existing voice commands. Prices for these cars ranged from 124,800 yuan (US $ 17,625).

Last month, Xiaomi also registered a Chinese brand, which translates almost as “Xiaomi Car Association”. Apart from Xiaomi, other tech giants such as Huawei also have plans in this regard. The Chinese market’s energy team has recently joined 18 automakers in China to develop 5G-connected vehicles for consumers.
