Traffic lights appeared on Google Maps
It seems that in the unspecified future drivers using Google Maps will be informed about the presence of traffic lights at intersections. The function is already tested.
It’s rare for Google Maps to copy something from the competition – usually the opposite. In the meantime, according to Droid Life , Google has found something that Apple Maps users in some regions have known for a long time. It is about the presence of traffic lights at intersections, which is marked on these maps.
The signaling icon, at least for now, is quite small and difficult to see – although it is slightly enlarged when the application enters the navigation mode. Signaling is also not taken into account when calculating the fastest route.
Traffic lights in the Google Maps application are something we will wait for.
For now, this feature is offered only to a small group of users of the Maps version of Android. It does not require app updates, because the information about the signaling comes from Google’s servers. It is not clear if and when this novelty will reach the general public.
However, given the pace of introducing new products to Google Maps, we will have to wait long months (if not years) for the reflection of traffic lights in Poland. For now, even testers have signaling icons visible only in selected areas of the United States. Apple Maps will therefore maintain this one of its unique advantages for some time.
