Huawei officially classified by the FCC as a security risk

Huawei was officially classified as a security risk by the FCC. The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) officially classified Huawei and ZTE as national security threats. This will have an enormous impact on US companies that want to do business with one of the two companies in the future, and will make Huawei and ZTE even more difficult if they want to expand their products worldwide.

In a statement summarizing the FCC’s stance on the two Chinese companies, FCC Chairman Ajit Pai said: "With today’s regulations and based on the overwhelming evidential value of the evidence, the Bureau has Huawei and ZTE as national security risks for the communications networks America – and classified for our 5G future. " He continued: " Both companies have close ties to the Chinese Communist Party and the Chinese military apparatus, and both companies are largely subject to Chinese law, which obliges them to work with the country’s secret services . "

Huawei and ZTE threaten US national security

Today’s announcement means the ban will officially enter into force. There was a brief moment when the US loosened its restrictions against the companies, but these measures seemed only temporary.

Both Huawei and ZTE have repeatedly denied that they are not spying for the Chinese government. But it is clear that the FCC is not taking their word for it.

Huawei’s last hope of working with Google should now be over.
