Using Gmail on Windows 10 may cost you the loss of emails
We advise you to exercise extreme caution when using the Gmail service through the Mail application in Windows 10. Some users have encountered an error that, if careless, may result in the loss of important emails.
It seems that someone at Microsoft prematurely sent the new version of the Mail and Calendar application to the Microsoft Store. A selected group of users using the Gmail service has quite a compromising error. Not everyone – everything works fine, even though I have the latest version of the application. However, it is difficult to ignore the pending submissions in the Microsoft Answers forum.

Instead of placing the sent messages in the Sent folder so far, the application places them in the one intended for spam. This raises two problems. The first, obvious: it is harder to find the emails that we need at the moment. However, there is another: mail deleted from the junk folder does not go to the Recycle Bin, but it is deleted permanently. So if we accidentally delete an important message from spam, we won’t get it back.
In addition, affected users also claim that they cannot add a new Google Account to the application. All attempts to connect Gmail to Mail result in an error message – though adding the account manually via the less efficient IMAP protocol still works.
The only consolation is that the vulnerability seems to be limited to a small group of users only. And that the system email client update can be done automatically by the Microsoft Store, without having to release a new version of the whole Windows – which allows you to hope that the slip-up will be removed quickly.
