The Redmi 9 was launched in China

Redmi Xiaomi unveiled the Redmi 9 in China through its official Weibo page. The device has been upgraded in China with the slogan "Defining a new standard for low-end devices in 2020". In fact, this model seems to be associated with some unique features that are not available in the global version.

First of all, the Chinese version of Redmi 9 will run on the latest custom ROM MIUI 12 based on Android 10. The global version was released on Android-based MIUI 11, but a major update is expected in the near future.

The Chinese version of the Redmi 9 is only available on 4GB of RAM + 64GB of internal storage and the top 6GB of RAM + 128GB of internal storage. It should be noted that the global version comes with only 3 GB of RAM + 32 GB of internal memory and 4 GB of RAM + 64 GB of internal memory. In addition, the phone comes with a dual 2.4 GHz band and 5 GHz WiFi, while the global version comes with a single-band Wi-Fi (2.4 GHz).

Apart from these three differences, which are quite significant for a low-end phone, the rest of the specs are the same as the global models. As a reminder, the Redmi 9 has a 6.53-inch FHD + IPS LCD panel with a 19: 5: 9 aspect ratio, 394 PPI, a color spectrum of 70% NTSC and a brightness of 400 nits. The display has a drop notch and also has a layer of Gorilla Glass 3 protector.

The phone supports MediaTek Helio G80 SoC, while for photography, there is a set of four cameras on the back, which includes a 13-megapixel (primary) camera + 8-megapixel (118-degree ultra-wide) + 5MP (macro) + 2MP (depth). Selfies are also taken with an 8-megapixel camera.

Other specs include a fingerprint sensor, dual wire, 4G connection, VoLTE, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, wireless FM radio, dedicated microSD card slot, multi-purpose NFC, IR blaster, 3.5mm headphone jack and USB Type-C Did. The phone has a large 5020 mAh battery under the body with 18W fast charge support.

The price of the Redmi 9 is as follows:

4 GB of RAM + 64 GB of internal memory – 799 yuan ($ 113)

4GB of RAM + 128GB of internal storage – 999 yuan ($ 141)

6GB of RAM + 128GB of internal storage – 1199 yuan ($ 169.6)

As you can see, just paying 799 yuan can get a 64GB ROM, and there isn’t a 32GB ROM.

The Redmi 9 will go on sale in advance (with less than 100 yuan) starting yesterday and will hit the market on June 29.
