Tesla: Hacker unlocks performance upgrade for a small discount
At some point it had to happen, and finally it did. A company has hacked Tesla’s software and is now offering some of its performance improvements at a discount.
For several years, Tesla has been selling its vehicles with upgradeable, software-locked functions, such as 75 kWh battery packs that remain software-locked at 60 kWh or higher outputs that are made possible by software updates.
The buyer could then have the features activated for an additional charge. But software is software and so hackers managed to crack and hack the Tesla software.
Tesla Model 3: Hackers offer performance upgrade
Now a company called Ingenext is offering the upgrade from the long-range version to the performance version for just over $ 2,000. Because who knows what has been reprogrammed by Ingenext and whether this is even safe.
Tesla itself does not offer such a package, although both cars are basically identical. You can choose between the long-range version or the performance version, with the latter you get even more extras.
For the pure performance upgrade, Ingenext only charges $ 1,100 for the additional performance. But how the guarantee is then, no idea. This will probably be gone. And it is also quite possible that Tesla will no longer receive automatic updates afterwards.
