Telegram 6.2 is here, now with a video editor, improved GIF function and more

Telegram is still trying to become the best messenger app out there. Version 6.2 is now available and has some interesting innovations in its luggage.

“Today we are upgrading the media editor with support for animated stickers and video editing,” wrote Telegram in a blog post. With the new editor, you can adjust contrast and brightness levels, add text and animated stickers, and even draw to highlight parts of the video. The new functionality for animated stickers is also available for photos.

Other new features include an improved GIF panel with a trending section and emoji-based tabs, faster loading times for panel GIFs, smoother message animations, and improved cache management.

Telegram 6.2 is now available in the Google Play Store and also in the Apple Store.

• When sending an image or video, tap the brush to open media editing.
• Improve the quality of your media, eg optimize brightness or saturation.
• Add drawings, texts or stickers to your media.
• Stick animated stickers on your photos or videos. Photos with animated stickers automatically turn into GIFs.
• Enlarge your photos or videos for particularly precise drawings.

• Benefit from greatly improved loading times for GIFs.
• Find GIFs even faster thanks to emoji-based shortcuts.
• The “Trendy” tab shows the top reactions of the day.
• Hold GIFs in search results to add them to your collection

and more
• Hold a chat in the chat list to add it to a folder.
• Access all chat GIFs and voice messages by selecting audios or GIFs in the chat profile.
