Samsung does not manufacture smartphone chips for Huawei
A few days ago, it was reported that Huawei was in talks with Samsung to buy smartphone chips from the South Korean manufacturer. This plan has apparently failed.
Huawei has probably back on the search for a new smartphone SoC SUPPLIERS MAKE. The plan to buy them from the competitor Samsung has been shattered. Samsung does not give a reason for this.
Since the United States banned the Chinese manufacturer from having its chips manufactured by TSMC, you have faced a major problem. The Kirin processor is developed by Huawei itself, but it is manufactured by contract manufacturers such as TSMC.
Huawei’s alternative: MediaTek and Spreadtrum
Another option is the purchase of chips from MediaTek and Spreadtrum. The former are now very well positioned, Spreadtrum is only used in cheap models.
However, both are not matched to Huawei devices, which could result in us seeing slower and less power-saving chips in Huawei phones. Which in turn would make flagship production impossible.
The Kirin chips from Huawei are generally quite competitive in terms of functions, performance and energy efficiency compared to the mobile processors Exynos and Snapdragon. But the use of older manufacturing technologies would not make this too.
While the Chinese government and Huawei have put a lot of money into promoting the local semiconductor industry to bring manufacturing up to date and reduce reliance on external companies, they are not yet ready to manufacture the chips on Procedures like 5nm and 7nm are based. It will take years and will put Huawei in dire straits.
