Xiaomi introduces MIUI 12 worldwide, these devices will get it soon

Xiaomi today announced the latest update of its Android operating system MIUI. The much-awaited MIUI 12 guarantees a first-class user experience: With a series of bottom-up optimizations, this update raises the operating system to the highest level and will convince existing and new users worldwide. To fully protect privacy, MIUI 12 focuses on a number of improved data protection functions. The brand new design of the user interface and the differentiated system animations are the absolute highlight among various new features: a lively operating system with a wow effect!

Improved data protection informs users and gives them control

Thanks to the expanded functions of MIUI 12 to protect privacy, the user is continuously informed about all app processes and has greater control over the authorizations. To provide users with comprehensive information, MIUI 12 provides a function for authorization notifications. Warning messages appear in the status bar when sensitive applications such as camera, location and microphone are running in the background. By clicking on the warning, the user can change the authorization settings at any time and stop suspicious behavior that is running in the background. MIUI 12 gives the user more extensive control over access rights and takes data protection to the next level. When an app requests access rights, a larger range of options can be selected: eg "When using the app" and "Notify". MIUI 12 literally brings the operating system to life with a brand new user interface design and differentiated system animations. The core scene animations were renewed across the system using technical innovations in the kernel. With the Mi Render Engine, MIUI 12 enables an absolutely smooth user interface experience. Thanks to the Mi Physics Engine, the symbols describe an elegant 3D curve and thus realistically simulate real movement. From elegant opening and closing to switching between apps, every detail reflects a refreshing design concept – inspired by nature. With its differentiated animations, MIUI 12 breathes life into the operating system and makes all details within reach seem real.

Thanks to the system-wide use of realistic visualizations, the screen was made more informative and understandable. Data is captured more intuitively in the form of graphics. Visualizations save time and make interaction with the mobile device more intuitive and efficient. Visualized elements also involve the user by translating movement into animations and making every look at the display unique and personal. The newly integrated "Super Wallpaper" takes the cosmic aesthetics to a new level with breathtaking reconstructions of official NASA images. With this "super wallpaper" – which always includes on-display, home screen and lock screen – the user embarks on an exciting space mission on his way through the system and discovers unknown sites of distant planets. New functions and improvements

multitasking
With floating windows, MIUI 12 relies on the latest multitasking solutions. When navigating in full-screen mode, floating windows make multitasking easier – without the hassle of switching between apps. The floating windows can be easily moved, closed and resized in the action area using simple gestures. If you get a text message while you are playing a video, you can simply reply in the floating window without interrupting the playback. Floating windows enable seamless, convenient and trouble-free multitasking.

Casting
MIUI 12 improves the previously introduced screen casting function and makes it an indispensable tool for anyone who wants to present something. With just a single click, documents, apps, video and games can be streamed onto a screen. And here, too, multitasking comes into play: Streaming windows can be minimized at any time. The option to stream elements with the display off also lowers power consumption – and thanks to the ability to exclude private areas, incoming messages and calls do not appear on external monitors.

Ultra power saving mode
MIUI 12 includes an ultra power saving mode. When active, the functions with the highest power consumption are limited to extend the standby time of the phone when the battery is low. Calls, messages and network connection are not affected. They are also fully usable in energy saving mode.

Dark mode
MIUI 12 inspires with its appealing new look and extended dark mode. With its darker color palette for both system-internal backgrounds and applications as well as for third-party applications, the Dark Mode guarantees an excellent viewing experience in poorly lit environments. In dark mode, the user also has the option of automatically adjusting the contrast to the ambient light if the screen brightness is reduced. The dark mode also reduces power consumption and helps to relieve the strain on the eyes.

App drawer
Xiaomi’s POCO Launcher is extremely popular with users worldwide. One of its main features – the Drawer app – is now part of MIUI 12. If the function is activated, all apps end up in this "drawer", which makes the home screen much tidier and clearer. The user can also automatically group apps according to their needs and find everything they need with just a few clicks.
