TENET: cinema release in July not sure yet
The second trailer for Christopher Nolan’s TENET is still going to be announced in July. But it’s not that safe.
Will TENET really be able to start in July? This question is currently moving fans and many cinema operators. These were hit hard by the Corona pandemic and had to close the cinemas for weeks.
The situation is slowly normalizing a little bit, but a carefree cinema experience like before is far from conceivable. In other countries and regions in particular, the situation looks very bleak.
TENET is now developing as a beacon of hope for the industry. And so far it has stoically been stuck at a cinema release in July. But now it seems as if it is not that safe.
Deadline now reports, relying on reliable internal studio sources, that TENET will only meet its launch date if at least 80 percent of all cinemas worldwide are reopened at the time of its release.
But we’re still miles away from that. The cinemas in Europe will gradually reopen in the next few weeks. But what about the United States? The pandemic is still really violent there.
It is also important for Warner Bros. that the cinemas in New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco are open again. These bring together a total of 25 percent of a film’s earnings on its launch weekend in the USA.
But all cinemas are still closed there. In the United States alone, 3,500 cinemas and 30,000 worldwide should have reopened in mid-July so that TENET can really get going.
