No more wearing masks. Szumowski changed his mind again
It is not clear how the abolition of the obligation to wear a mask in public space is to defrost the economy or whether we have already magically defeated the coronavirus . We only know that the closer the election, the less annoying inconvenience to voters.
Health Minister Łukasz Szumowski was a guest of today’s Graffiti program on Polsat News. When giving an interview, he announced that it would probably – though not official yet – be officially announced today or tomorrow to lift the obligation to wear masks or cover your face in public space.
On April 16, this obligation was introduced to stop the spread of the coronavirus and thus the COVID-19 pandemic. However, Szumowski argued on the vision that in some voivodships the number of infections is falling.
Unfortunately, he did not address the problem of possible measurement error due to the number of tests carried out. It is also difficult to understand information about the decreasing number of infections. According to the available knowledge from public institutions, this decrease can actually be observed, but it is far from a state in which the situation is completely under control. It cannot be ruled out that lifting the obligation will somehow improve the economy. But no details of this possible impact have been provided.
Abolishing the obligation to wear masks. What does it look like today?
One thing to admit to Szumowski is that he is undoubtedly not stubborn. He changes his views quite often – adapting to new information sent to him both by the world of science and by the authorities of the political party promoting him, anxiously observing the decline in support for the presidential candidate for re-election. Over the course of several weeks, we learned that wearing masks is unreasonable, after which it helps a lot – so we will wear them until the vaccine was invented – and then today announced that we will not wait for this vaccine.
For today, however, the injunction to wear masks remains in force. Exceptions exempt from this order are:
- children under 4 years;
- people who are struggling with breathing problems;
- people who due to their health are unable to put on and take off masks themselves;
- people driving together if they live together;
- people driving a car with a child up to 4 years old;
- working persons if they do not have contact with outside persons;
- collective public transport drivers and private carriers, if fenced separately from passengers;
- clerics with religious rites;
- farmers while working on the farm;
- soldiers of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Poland and allied forces, officers of the Military Counterintelligence Service and the Military Intelligence Service, while performing their functions.
