8 million ported numbers and 456 approvals for 5G tests in Poland. UKE summarizes recent years
The Office of Electronic Communications summarizes the last years of its activity. The number of numbers transferred by Poles and the approvals issued for 5G tests in Poland is impressive.
Unexpectedly, the President of UKE was forced to leave his position . On this occasion, the unit he managed prepared a document entitled Summary of the Strategy of the President of UKE 2017-2021, which summarizes the last years of activity and plans to date.
UKE and consumer rights protection
The first chapter is devoted to a summary of actions taken to defend consumers in an unequal fight with operators and other behemoths. Implementation of the roam like at home principle is mentioned as one of the successes, thanks to which we can finally use phones while traveling abroad in the European Union without much stress.
In addition, the Office of Electronic Communications has prepared a tool for measuring internet speed at various suppliers in Poland called Pro Speed Test . It was made thanks to it almost 46 thousand. certified measurements using computers with Windows, and nearly 600,000 uncertified measurements, primarily on Android mobile devices.
In addition, 5.5 thousand preparations are listed as UKE’s success. Local government hotspots at the end of 2019 and 356 websites accessibility surveys conducted for people with disabilities. Consumer rights enforcement was also facilitated, which allowed to recover as much as PLN 1.3 million as part of dispute resolution . An inefficient arbitration court was also abolished.
In its document, the Office of Electronic Communications also summarizes the number of times Poles have transferred their number .
The report shows that the PLI CBD platform developed by the Office of Electronic Communications helped Poles transfer 7902584 numbers, of which 1706707 are numbers in fixed networks, and 6196877 in mobile networks. He is certainly pleased with this Plus, which has been the leader in the balance of ported numbers for several quarters .
In addition, the same platform was used to provide information on the location of the calling subscriber to the statutory services called to provide assistance. As many as 83964090 such cases have been reported. In addition, nearly 10 thousand. users took advantage of e-services in UKE, and 166 million numbers and 130,000 were checked in the search engine active Premium Rate services.
UKE reminds that despite canceling the auction, 5G agreed 456 times to test this technology.
The tests were carried out in four bands: 2100 MHz, 3.5 GHz, 26 GHz and 28 GHz. As many as 1700 permits were issued for the use of 5G radio equipment in the 1800 MHz, 2.1 GHz and 2.6 GHz bands, and Plus with its 5G has already started . In addition, frequencies in the area of over 1,000 communes were released, and UKE’s administrative proceedings resulted in:
- 114 reservations for frequencies in the 3.6 GHz band were withdrawn;
- 14 revocation decisions were issued
booking; - the area of validity has been reduced for 15 reservations.
Thanks to these activities, the Office of Electronic Communications could announce an auction for frequency reservations in the 3.6 GHz band , which gave a chance to allocate the 320 MHz band for telecoms for the needs of the 5th generation network later this year. However, as we already know, this did not happen, because the auction was canceled because of the coronavirus , and the future of 5G in Poland is questionable .
5G is, however, only one of many areas that UKE has recently dealt with.
In addition, framework contracts for access to cable ducts were looked at and 700 MHz frequencies were made available for broadband systems. This required international arrangements with 11 countries and resulted in the need to switch from digital terrestrial TV encoding from the DVB-T / MPEG4 standard to DVB-T2 / HEVC .
In addition, over 400,000 have been carried out in recent years. meetings with representatives of local government units and entrepreneurs. To this went over 160 meetings with entrepreneurs and telecommunications chambers, where they talked about combating abuse and regulation of passive infrastructure and services provided in mobile networks.
